Skin Tag Removal in Nottingham
Skin tags are benign growths on the skin, usually skin-coloured. They are common in areas where there is some rubbing, for example under the arms and in the groin.
What are they? Skin tags are benign (non-cancerous) growths on the skin. They are usually skin coloured. Skin tags commonly occur in areas where there is more friction, such as in the underarms, groin, neck and around the bra area.
Are skin tags dangerous? The good news is that skin tags are benign. However, they can often be irritating because they can catch on clothing and bleed.
How do we remove your skin tags? The different treatment methods that Dr Wa will use to remove your skin tags include electrosurgery (hyfrecation), shave excision and surgical excision. She will discuss the different options at the consultation and find the most suitable method for removing your skin tags.
Can I have my treatment on the same day? You can often have your treatment straight after the assessment. However, this depends on various factors, including the complexity of the procedure. For this reason, it is helpful if you mention where your skin tags are and the size when you book your appointment.
Will I stay awake during the procedure? Yes. We only use local anaesthetic to numb the area of skin where the skin tag is. This also gives you good pain relief for after the procedure. You will be able to eat and drink as normal, and some people even go straight back to work after!
How long does skin tag removal take? Generally, the procedure takes between 30-60 minutes.
Will I need stitches? This depends on what treatment method is used. For shave excision and electrosurgery (hyfrecation), no stitches are needed as the wound is cauterised. With surgical excision, stitches are needed. If your stitches need to be removed, this will be included in the cost of treatment.
How do I look after the wound afterwards? The wound should be kept clean and dry for 48 hours. You should avoid picking it and limit sun exposure if possible. Watch for redness, swelling, increasing pain or discharge as this could indicate infection. If you notice any of these symptoms then please see a medical professional for advice.
How much does it cost? Skin tag removal starts from £200.
